We have been moving along at a pretty quick rate. Ever since the software was complete we have been pounding out scans and have images and files everywhere. We are now running out of things to scan and make images of. We need the biologist to grow us our biofilms so that we can finally start our actual project. I can't wait for that. Also I added an addition to my most prized modern art creation. Anyone is welcome to come to the Biomedical Imaging Lab to check it out at any time. It has received comments such as impressive and dangerous. It is a must see.
Today I ran a whole bunch of scans of O Rings with saran wrap on them and one with silicon. We wanted to see if we could see the difference between the flat surface and the rough surface from the images and we could so that was pretty productive. Now we need to figure out exactly how to analyse this data. Naming the file names for the tests was the best part. The name of the day was "The O-Ringer no silicon 3000" Also i have been getting complaints about how short my blogs were so I decided that i would make this one a tad bit longer for all of you who want to sit around and read this nonsense. Think about it, the part that you are reading now has nothing to do with anything and all the important part you have already read. I am just saving your time and making it straight to the point. So in making my short and sweet blogs I was thinking about you the reader, trying to save you as much time as possible in your busy lives.

Collected lots and lots of data. Found faster ways to do it. Also in the meantime I defrosted the freezer which had huge ice chunks in it and I made a modern art masterpiece.

I created a waterfall this morning... that was a mess but today was productive. Lots of solid data was collected and we are moving right along. We are in business!

After long hours and lots of hard work the software is complete. Now it is time for data collection! Also for all you clowns who don't like how I don't capitalize or use correct punctuation in most of my blogs, this one was for you.

it would be lovely if we didnt have phantom errors in our software. the error we have right now makes no sense to anyone.

Went to the U of R today on a field trip with the rest of the interns. Learned some cool new factoids but the best part by far was the fire alarm going off... first the fire alarm rings and then starts yelling at us... WARNING WARNING GET TO THE NEAREST EXIT. DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR. SOMEONE HAS REPORTED AN EMERGENCY. so then we get outside after like 10 minutes a firetruck pulls up. these two fire fighters come jumping out with their axes out like theyre just going to bust down a door or something. the fire fighters walk in. stand in the middle of this 6 floor building, take a look around and come out and says its all safe, you can go back in. haha this made my day.

Went to U of R to do some testing in their lab. we didnt get any good data but oh well. science takes patience.

trying to fix a problem with the code to our computer program. We need a super computer haha.

Friday, July 16, 2010

doing some practice tests to see how long it is going to take to collect the data with certian samples.

fun day. finishing the program. running a huge scan over night... i hope it works.

JML Optical was awesome. now i know what the poor glass has to go through to become a lens. and also i think subs are delicious.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Doing some experiments before we can start collecting the data. we are almost there. i am excited for it to be all set up.

Monday, July 12, 2010

today was a good day. we are getting closer and closer to being able to collect a lot of data. also silicone does not take three hours to dry. it was still wet by the end of the day. haha

Friday, July 9, 2010

today was an exciting day... well except for me forgetting my ID but i guess that just adds to the excitement. i went over to the U of R where there was a huge lab for the project that we were doing. usually the equipment doesnt work so well and they always have problems but today went really well and they said it has been the most productive day in weeks. i like to think that i am the good luck charm.

today was a great day. i got to learn how programs were going to be used in the project and i got to work on them myself. i also had alot of fun giving myself ultrasounds. i am excited to get more in depth in this project.

Today was great when i walked in a room with PCs. So pumped I get to work with them and not the stupid Macs. met some cool people who were writing computer codes for the project. it was a fun and productive day.

First Day

Today was very fun, the scavenger hunt was intense and my group was awesome. Today seemed to be perfect until it was ruined by a room full of Macs. I am a PC... along with everyone else in my group. The Mac killed our movie and our group no longer liked each other. haha At least we had a good time making fun of Macs for a couple of hours. The video clips were still hilarious. Moral of the story... buy a PC.
